So softly, and taking care not to disturb him, Joyce sits down by her eldest son’s side. It takes her a moment before she starts to speak, but when she does, her voice is gentle and kind.      tray gently tapped onto the mostly empty cafeteria table, the sound of the chair pulling out before she sat down briefly without a word. there was laughter behind her, this table being the only empty one besides johnathan sitting there. 

         “ before you say anything--I have nowhere else to go. “ she protested, serious expression looking sunken and tired. the once popular and perfect prom queen fallen from grace since her ‘return from the dead’. it was weird, it was off, no one wanted anything to do with her. 

         “ I won’t bother you. I just want to eat my lunch on a hard surface. “ and not the bathroom stall.

         holly had just gotten back from the hospital and returned to school earlier this week and clearly it wasn’t going well. adjusting and all. giving a quiet sigh, holly shoveled her spoon into the mush of whatever this was--also pulling a sandwich and other snacks from her purse. it didn’t bother her too much. she had a lot on her mind and high school was the last of it. everything was frustrating. 

          a group of varsity boys walked by, two of them placing their hands around their mouth and going ‘ OooooOooOoOOOoooo ‘ with a laugh. 

          ‘ BOO ! ‘ another went, holly not even flinching. it was so stupid. they thought she made this whole thing up for attention. going missing after she told them her new ghost hunting hobby. it was also CRUEL. but they were dumb kids. they had NO IDEA what was out there. 

            giving a light sniffle, back of her wrist tapped at her lips to dab at any crumbs, briefly noticing he didn’t have much at all on his side of the table. without a word holly slid a sandwich his way, carrying on in silence.

               LYDIA HAD TAKEN PICTURES LONG ENOUGH to know that not everyone was comfortable with being the subject of a photograph. Even her own relatives still tried dodging the camera lens when she pointed it their way. Strangers often gave her odd looks when she pointed it at them, not sure what some strange kid wanted with a picture of them.  ❝ You don’t need to be photogenic to look good in a photo. ❞  Most people might agree and maybe to an extent that was true, but Lydia had always been in love with candid photos. She loved unsuspecting moments, real moments instead of ones created from poses and fake smiles. This was one of Jonathan was better than any Christmas card. // @byersoldest​ from here !
