Hinata had noticed he was acting a bit strange, even for someone like Komaeda. It worried him, but being as he’d never actually seen what was wrong, he passed it off. Ignored it. He continued ignoring it, though something inside was telling him to make sure nothing was wrong. And though he shouldn’t have, he passed it off as a joke. “It’s just Komaeda playing games,” he told himself.
But all that seemed to hit him in the face during breakfast. He was talking with Nanami, he recalled, and even if it wasn’t fitting for their surroundings, Hinata laughed. And then from somewhere else, there came a retched noise, and he turned his head abruptly, the joy he had fading.
The noise had come from Komaeda, and there was a mix of petals and blood nearby. Instinctively, he started to worry. “Ko…maeda? Are you alright?” he frowned, getting up from his seat to walk over. Not too close, but he still wanted to make sure the luckster was okay.
“You’re not feeling nauseous or anything, are you?”
Nagito forced a smile onto his face, hiding the flower in his hands as he recovered. He really, really needed to get out of here so he could dispose of the evidence.
“Hinata-kun,” he said, frowning at his raspy voice. He cleared his throat. Hinata getting near him was making him really nervous--though he couldn’t put his finger on why, exactly, that was.
He looked up at Hinata. (His heart beat faster.) Nagito gave him a soft smile. “No, no--everything is alright...I apologize for disturbing you.”
His hands were still clasped together over the table, not daring to move lest Hinata see the flower. A tickle persisted in his throat.
