The current church is the second to stand on this site. Stalin intended to build a colossal Palace of the Soviets to house the country's legislature, but construction was halted in 1941 during World War II #russiabyjono (at Храм Христа Спасителя)

This is the tallest Orthodox Christian church in the world. In 2018, it was reported that the foundations of the church were sinking, and a massive campaign of underpinning, and reconstruction was needed. There’s some irony in that #russiabyjono (at Храм Христа Спасителя)

Minerva was the goddess of war... and peace (as well as wisdom, art, poetry, medicine, and crafts). This particular painting by Rembrandt van Rijn was relatively secluded for most of it’s life because it was kept in private collections until about 2008 when it was acquired by the Leiden Collection #russiabyjono (at Государственный музей изобразительных искусств имени А.С.
