It was the end. The papers would be signed. Byron fidgeted, waiting for Camille to arrive at the attorney’s office. Their marriage had been good, for most of it, but his job was hard, his job got in the way. He’d also been gone a lot and refused counseling, but that didn’t mean he didn’t love her. It just meant that Byron was one of those people who didn’t do well with talking his feelings. He did better showing them. Which was why he and Camille had fallen back into bed over and over since he had left.
Standing when he saw Camille, he forced a smile. Nervous. Didn’t want it to be over. He went to her, not sure if he should hug her or shake her hand. “Hey, hi. Um. You ready for this?” Because if she said no? He wouldn’t be crying about it.
