| CYANOSIS |
Synopsis
In a world where civilization is nothing but a heap of rusted flesh and metal, life has become a violent anomaly. Animals, deformed by human hatred and waste, roam as hungry monsters desperately seeking a cure that no longer exists.
Sal, the last girl with a secret seeping from her wounds: her blood is cyan sap. She is the carrier of Cyanosis, a silent metamorphosis turning her bones into wood and her veins into roots. She seeks neither heroes nor redemption; her body obeys an internal migration pushing her toward the Sanctuary. As The Grudge (El Resabio) collapses the air behind her, Sal clings to the last bit of purity in her pack: beings who, like her, still resist becoming nothing more than rotten static.
The path to the Sanctuary is a process of loss; the closer she gets to fertile soil, the more her skin hardens into bark. She flees not only from the gravitational collapse pursuing her but also from hungry eyes that see her blood as the only nectar capable of delaying the inevitable. Everyone wants to feel the coolness of life, even if it is the last thing they consume. Sal walks because she is the seed of a tomorrow she will not live to see. And as her dirty feet leave traces of blue in the soot, she understands that the goal is not to arrive safely, but to arrive in time.
(Cyanosis is a story about the redemption of the future, the weight of a plant-based legacy, and the terrifying beauty of transmuting one’s own humanity so the world can be green once more.)
