It’s remotely silent as he’s ambling through the streets, nothing in particular to do really, but he’s trying to delay himself from returning back to the hotel. By now, the name of it has slipped his mind and he’d be traveling the city a second time to find it again, but it doesn’t matter. Because for once, it’s relatively empty of people. By tomorrow, he’ll be in a different city, in a different hotel, and surrounded by different people. So this replenishes him, and renews his will to be on this soil. If he remembered anything of hell, he’d compare the two places, but he doesn’t, so this is his home now, even if he is unwelcome. Even if he doesn’t belong here.
The padding of footsteps is what startles him, but he doesn’t stir, nor jump, and only peers over in the direction of a female catching sight of him then immediately scurrying off. She is out of his proximity for him to tap into her system, so he follows her instead. It’s abnormal for anyone to avoid him that way. Well, unless they were aware of his actual form. But no human could be, which is the reason for his curiosity.
She’s fast, but he’s unfair, and dumps a nearby trashcan right at her feet without touching it, hindering her from advancing any further away from him. And as he draws near her, he isn’t grinning like he normally is. Instead, he seems genuinely curious, more or less of a facade for honesty.
"Avoiding someone, animal?”
Even without sparing a glance behind she knows he is following her. The tell tale scent drifting on the wind. Drawing far to close for comfort. Once again footsteps take on a hurried pace. Attempting to put as much distance between them as possible. Considering her abnormal speed it might have even succeeded. If the only policy to the race was running. Demons weren’t necessarily of the bad sort. Like any other species they had their champions and monsters. Exactly where on the spectrum the male sat was something of a mystery. Though not one she was curious to explore.
Her ears ached slightly as the ping of metal striking concrete echoed in the air. It would have been a simple task to simply leap over the fallen object and run. The trashcan itself was no proper barrier. But it was a shallow display of his power. If he was set on his pursuit just running would never be enough.
With a sigh she turned on her heal. Crossing her arms and assuming a defensive stance. Keeping her expression neutral. Aside from cutting off her path he hadn’t technically done anything to warrant aggression. Even if the way he chose to address her was a little on the condescending side. There had been far worse names in her past.
“I made a promise to avoid trouble. You reek of it.”
