In the Record Books
Twenty-sixth day of the Fourth Month,
This is Byza; Icarus is asleep, but I know he won't mind my using of his Record Book if I keep the margins neat. I have recently returned from a short journey to pay visit to my children. Yes, they have all left and found good homes of their own, but a mother dragon never quite loses the bond she has with her first hatchlings.
The eldest, named Adrienne, has gone to serve the forces of the Gladekeeper. I worry though, she was so young. I hope she is well.
My little silvery stormchild has found a home in a small, newly established water flight clan in the Tsunami Flats. His clan leaders have christened him Vegas. I pray to the Lightweaver that he lends his strength to his clanmates as they continue to grow.
The youngest ice and royal boy has been adopted into a well fleshed Arcane clan. I had never been to the Starfall Isles before; The Crystalspine Reaches are quite a sight to behold! The boy has been named Rampant, I feel it matches his rambunctious nature.
And lastly Tawhir's little girl, the maize child, she has been adopted into an arcane-turned-nature clan, name of Reyna. She has taken the name Gwendolyn. Her mate, a fae name of Emerus, is the clans founding patriarch. His previous mate has left the clan to serve The Arcanist. Gwendolyn has told me much of the clan leadership has fallen to her due to Emerus' age. She confided to me that she was scared, having so much power and responsibility over so many dragons and hatchlings.
She told me she remembers Sinnastrae and Clan Mother Petra fondly; the way the sun warmed the smooth stone of the ruins, the dappled sunlight filtering through the trees around the nesting grounds. She remembers playing with Twili and Godric, and weaving in and out underneath Megaera's and Hades' claws as they guarded her and her siblings.
She loves her new clan and wants to take her new role as clan leader seriously, despite her age and inexperience. But I could tell she was homesick. I gave her invitation to come visit Sinnastrae whenever she could. That cheered her a bit.
I am glad my darlings are well and happy. Lightweaver shine your mercy upon them; may their days be long and warm, their nights short and sheltered, their bellies and nests full, their claws and minds sharp.
