CW // bit of a heavy headcanon (mentions of death & guilt)

Idk how in character it is but GOD thinking about c!Ranboo visiting c!Aimsey on the 21st of December every year to keep them company and check in on them knowing how hard the day is for her. But even though he knows it’s irrational, unhelpful, all of that, there’s still a tiny voice in the back of his head that’s just so guilty. Because the person c!Aimsey loved the most is gone just like he was, but his situation is different.

He wishes that when c!Kristin, the Goddess of Death, lifted his aching, fading soul, with his knees tucked close to his chest and their tail wrapped around as tightly as their frail muscles could manage, that they looked up at the stars. They wish they traced the night sky for a spaceship and told the goddess, “Wait. Please bring her too. She should go home too.”

Maybe he wishes he saved his own lover a little bit as well, bitter and angry as he was that the same gesture was not returned (though they know it’s more complicated than that.)

But that’s not what happened and C!Aimsey can read the guilt in c!Ranboo’s eyes. They’re best friends. She can tell even though he never dares to voice it. But she doesn’t hold a single thing against him. They couldn’t be more grateful to know he’s home— that they made it home. They both made it.

And c!Ranboo intends to cherish every moment of his life and honor those who have lost theirs. He vows to remember them. One thing that’s never changed about him from the sixteen year old kid he was to the twenty something year old adult he is now is that he never forgets people. He’s made of love. He’s going to share it, and he’s going to fall in love with life in their honor.

Ghostboo/ranboo is very excited for aimsey to arrive and give him a tour, however there is stuff to think about: while touring, ghostboo tries to avoid anything specifically about him or his past self that would make them worry or question too much. It’s almost as if he’s acting as if he was aliveboo. Despite having all his memories and presumably being good friends with aimsey, he doesn’t give too many details about himself

when touring the prison, he mentions dream and Sam being imprisoned there but completely skips over his own imprisonment and last death. I’m pretty sure he’s wearing only a chestplate to cover the scar, he hasn’t directly addressed the fact he is a ghost. it’d be interesting to see whatever backstory c!Aimsey has with c!ranboo and how they will react when they find out about the 3 lives system, (if they don’t already know about) knowing someone’s ghost isn’t the same as their alive version, who aimsey has presumably interacted with before

When showing aimsey his house, he tells her not to look too closely to the carpet (featuring the aliveboo skin) and he blocks the upstairs to do list before she can read too much, ushering her downstairs; at some level ghostboo is protecting ranboo’s privacy despite freely insulting his living self. He also breaks the lever to his riches room, so maybe he doesn’t want aimsey to know about how rich he is/was, but then again that could just be practical stealing prevention (lack of trust? he has ranboo’s memories of aimsey, but ghostboo himself just met him)

Also it seems he’s avoiding any mentions of meaningful personal connections. He makes 2 offhand comments about being blown up at the burger van by “some guy named wilbur”, no mention of why specifics (saving tubbo) or how he was only there because he was one of the only people to truly give wilbur a chance to change. Speaking of, he only mentions tubbo in connection to snowchester, the mansion, or old lmanburg (“the former president of lmanburg”), no mention of the terribly ambiguous marriage. When aimsey is about to open the doors to what was supposed to be ranboo and tubbo’s bedroom, he closes those doors like his life depends on it ironically, then rushes out of there, presumably to avoid micheals bedroom, of who there is no acknowledgement. No mention of Phil and techno other than “they live here” and no mention of the syndicate (not surprising yet still surprising, i would’ve assumed ghostboo would eventually give anything he could away seeing about his “no attachments” philosophy. This mf just gave the mansion to aimsey. No consultation with tubbo, not that tubbo would’ve cared, but I’d like to think aliveboo still had some hope of using it someday. Which likely ghostboo knows, given he apparently still “wanders the halls”

Overall he does enough of a good job of acting like aliveboo, so much so that no one encountered on the tour or aimsey themself comments on it (which could just be a lack of knowing any semi lore action on their part) except he is inevitably more cheerful than normal. Does c!aimsey not comment on this bc it is a familiar attitude from him, implying at some point before the smp, when they knew each other, c!ranboo wasnt weighed down by so many problems? Also, he has no problems walking into the egg room to causally show off an evil entity, something nonenderwalk ranboo would not have done, while c!aimsey and c!foolish are clearly freaked out by the vibes in the room. When aimsey comments that everyone in the servers has issues, he says “no, I’m alright actually”, not that anyone else who would’ve heard that would’ve understood the irony in the statement.

THINGS GOT BETTER FOR THEM AND THEYRE LEARNING HOW TO BE ALIVE AND LIVE TO THE FULLEST, HUMAN BEING OR NOT. DESPITE EVERYTHING, THEY ARE HAPPY. DESPITE EVERYTHING ITS THEM.
