MASCOT DESIGN CONTEST: WINNER

Hello all! We ended up with three entries to our mascot design contest, which is far less than we would have hoped, but they were still three very unique and adorable designs, and it was hard to choose just one. However, C-Haven only needs one mascot, so inevitably someone had to win!

Say hello to C-Haven's new mascot, designed by the very talented Empyrisan! This gorgeous fellow will now be the face of C-Haven, so get to know him well! We've yet to name him, but feel free to offer up suggestions :)

Thank you to those dedicated few who participated in our contest! We really appreciate the time and effort you put into this, and hope inspire that same drive and passion in others who want to see C-Haven come to light!

Since Tumblr asks can be unreliable, we now ask that you email all entries to my email address, [email protected], with the subject: C-HAVEN MASCOT CONTEST; YOUR NAME (ie. your tumblr/fa/da username). Do not send your entries to us in asks, as these are unreliable.

Hey guys, remember us?

It's been some time since we last made any sort of announcement, and this is due to various reasons. First of all, we've been waiting on the mascot contest to give us a face for our campaign, but as of yet we haven't received any entries and that's really discouraging! The whole mission of C-Haven is to create a website built by users around the needs of users, but it seems the initial steam around this project has deflated, and we aren't sure how to get that back!

Secondly, there isn't much we can do until we launch the campaign for funding, since this will be an entirely donations-based project. The problem with that is, as said above, we need things like a logo, a mascot, and an official design before we can create merchandise as fundraising incentives. So its a bit of a rock and a hard place.

For that reason, we may end up cancelling the mascot contest and going another route. Inevitably, we'll be pulling money out of our own pockets, but here's where there is a problem with that. We don't want to invest in something people aren't interested in, because if we put money into this and then we can't raise the funds to actually do it, it'll just have been a waste, you know?

So if you guys are still interested in seeing us create a character database with unlimited characters, a huge character image gallery, an intuitive UI and user-based community, and countless new and exciting features that have never been seen before, please spread the word and let us know you want this! Our initial post got over 200 reblogs, but we want to see more than that. Help us keep this project going, it only takes a click!

Artist Contributors!

So far, we've got some great artists who have generously offered to contribute their art to our campaign. We hope that this will not only help in raising awareness about our project, but also help in raising the funds for it. The campaign will launch at the beginning of March, right as our Mascot Contest ends. This will give us time to mock up merchandise, finalize plans for the site, and prepare for the work we're in for once we have the funds and the site to work on.

If you're curious, here are the artists that will be contributing so far. If you aren't listed here, its either that I never heard back from you about a detail, or I've forgotten you. Seeking Artists for Contributor Rewards!

Now that we're moving forward with this project, or next step is the Campaign. For those who don't know, there are several websites that allow one to host a campaign for funds to fund a project. We'll be using Indiegogo.com, since Kickstarter.com doesn't allow our type of project. The thing is, there need to be incentives for people to contribute and help us fund our dream of launching this website, beyond a simple 'thank you'.

We have several ideas in mind, including:

Stickers/decals

T-Shirts, Water Bottles, or similar 'merch' gear

An official mention on our Donor's page (on the final site launch)

First pick of a username, as contributors will be first to try the site

There may be additional options, but some of them won't be announced until the campaign is launched. What we need, though, are more incentives! We got the idea of artwork, since art is a huge part of original characters and expressing your mind-babies in a visual way. What's a better prize than seeing your character drawn by an awesome artist?

So we're looking for artists to contribute their talents to this project. You'd be contributing at least one image (more if you'd like) as a prize for someone that contributes to the campaign, and you'd also be raising awareness about this very awesome project! There are two options:

Donate your artwork as prizes for the campaign, meaning we do not have to pay you for the art that you offer. You can choose what level of a contribution a person must pay to get your prize (ie. they'll get your colored bust if they donate $25), and of course, offer as much art as you're willing to! This gets you exposure, future client potential, and more (see below).

We pay you for prizes to contribute to the campaign. For example, we'd pay $20 for $20 worth of your art as a prize to contributors. This would potentially increase the campaign goal, so this will be limited, but we're open to doing so if it means drawing in more interested parties! Again, more exposure, client potential, and money!

Any artist that contributes will also get these perks on the site once its launched:

First dibs on the site once its ready to launch (along with contributor)

Reserve your username on the site, before contributors (just let us know in advance what you want it to be!)
