The event - it felt perhaps too childish to call it a Halloween Party, even if it was technically just that - had been nothing short of extraordinary. Even if a good portion of that feeling came along with the fact that she was overjoyed to wear the dress she’d selected for the evening, Lydia figured that any sort of happiness was always something to take advantage of - and knowing her brother was also here only further served to bring her happiness. Then again, her brother had had that sort of power over her from the moment she was born - always the person to bring her greatest joy, bring her relaxation, and make her laugh and smile no matter what.
She’d also become aware of another someone who she was close to, who’d come to the party. Even though she’d told him that his outfit was perhaps not quite a costume, he was someone else who she was always overjoyed to have around. They were someone who she was entirely comfortable around, be it the version of herself who could go on for hours about research, or the one who wanted nothing more than to watch questionable television snuggled under blankets. Jude was there for any and all of it, and for that she’d forever be grateful to him.
They’d disappeared from her sight for a bit - though then again, she’d been off talking with Graham and with fancy footballers, so perhaps she’d disappeared from their sight, but as she spotted them across the room, her face lit up.
“Jude!” Lydia exclaimed, bounding over to her friend. “How are you? I have perhaps had a few drinks but some of them are sparkly and even glittery, and really, who can say no to that? Are you enjoying yourself?” She pressed a chaste kiss on his cheek. “Also, movie night soon? You, me, Sonny?”
