Quick overview
So meet the newest blue armour unit! (Have I ever said that?) well he’s the first to be added since launch and boy did Robin bring the treats. Well mainly one big one but still, Robins best comparison is surprisingly Amelia.... Rocking similar attack and speed, infact the only area he loses to Amelia is Hp. I mean he would’ve had the highest BST in the game if not for another unit on this seasonal banner. Still if you enjoy Amelia, you’ll enjoy Robin.
Base kit
Robin has a Tannenboom!+ which grants all stats +2 when attacked. A great defensive weapon and lets him sit and eat attacks after being hit. Reciprocal aid seems kinda odd on him, but he does have Brazen atk/spd so that might be why, oh btw this ability is somewhat busted. It grants +7 to atk/spd during combat which means, this can be stacked with other buffs since its counted as a spur. This also means robin hits 41 speed when this is active. Finally armour march is a god send for armours as we know, and what makes me think he’s actually Amelia in disguise.
Basically he needs a special and a B slot, special wise his best one is bonfire or ignis as both allow him to make use of his defence stat. As for his B slot well either of the new Bold fighter or Vengeful fighter skills work nicely on him, as does quick riposte. Wrath is also a option, as is lance breaker.
Pros + Cons
+Amazing offensive spread with solid defence.
+Amazing weapon and solid skills to go with it.
+Basically a blue Amelia with even better stats.
-His res like Amelias is still rather low and out done even by christmas chrom
-His best B slots are all expensive
-Limited edition halts his ability to fight +10s once the banner ends.
Partners
Robin Ideally wants someone to handle Reinhardt and Green units like Hector. So green mages are nice like halloween Henry or Sonya re nice pair ups. A strong red unit like Celica, Ike, Ryoma etc who can Handle Hector also helps a lot, Robin is a unit who probably demands a balanced team the most.
Suggested set(s)
Blue Amelia
+Atk/spd/def -res
Tannenboom!+/Slaying Lance+, pivot, Bonfire/Ignis
Slot A = Distant counter, steady stance/breath, earth boost, close defence
Slot B = vengeful fighter, quick riposte, renewal, vantage
Slot C = Armour march or any c skill
Sacred seals: distant defence, close defence, atk+3
Weapon refinery = For either weapon +spd is never a bad choice to prevent more doubles but you’ll gain more out of +defence if anything, while+res can help some mage matchups.
So by painting Amelia blue we get christmas Robin. So we might as well take her set and place it on him, but now with a few tweaks. Robin ideally likes distant counter as do all armours, but using any defensive A slot works nicely. Vengeful fighter is the ultimate B skill for him, but quick riposte is fine, while also worth noting it should be used if using steady breath as the skill and vengeful fighter do not stack. Its just what you have to play with. Other options though are Vantage and Renewal to help keep Robin around. The choice of weapon is up to you, Tannenboom will boost robins stats while Slaying edge offers the extra cool down off of ignis and Aether thus letting him use them more frequently.
Dethorned Christmas tree
+Atk -hp/res/spd
Brave lance+, pivot, Bonfire/ignis
Slot A = Brazen atk/spd, swift sparrow, death blow
Slot B = Bold fighter, Desperation, wrath
Slot C = Armour march, or any c skill
Sacred seals: Atk +3
So I’ll talk more in depth in some of the other christmas guides about this but Robin can really abuse the Brave lance especially with something like Brazen atk/speed which once below 80% He can just act like theres no speed drop, with no loss to his defences. Bold fighter lets him always double, but at that point you might as well stick to death blow just due to it being safer, while desperation is a solid option. Wrath is also nice if you just want some more damage. His speed is the only arguable thing, if not using bold fighter as he can attempt top quad but that’s up to you if you do or not.
