“Knock, knock,” Charlie said lightly as she hovered in the doorway. 

In one hand, she held a bag of Takis and in the other, a steaming plate of pasta - clearly just freshly made. She and Helena had been in the kitchen together for a bit, if only for some bonding time considering how busy everything had started to get in recent days. Of course, Babs had been squirrelled away doing work - as she too often was - and Charlie had volunteered to make the trip down. 

“Brought you some food. We decided you can have the Takis if you have an actual meal first,” she teased.

Dick hadn’t seen her in a while. Sure, he’d called her but it wasn’t the same as being in the same room together. He missed just hanging out, so maybe that was why he was standing in front of her door now. He hadn’t meant to stop in but as he was walking by her place, he just couldn’t help it. Knocking on the door, he perked up as she opened it. “Movie night?” He asked, knowing it seemed sudden to ask. He reached up and tussled his own dark hair. A boyish smile on his lips. “It’s just been a while.”

“What a shock to see you back! Just couldn’t stay away, could you? I knew you’d miss me.” Edward said, a smirk plainly stretched across his lips as he sunk back against his chair. Arkham- like always, hadn’t treated him kindly but he was in high spirits. Oswald had promised him a break out of sorts in the near future and even better: Lee was still around. Even if she was angry with him. Now even Babs came back to see him. “Anything new? Do tell me. I’m dying of boredom in here.”

Peter yawned, offering his sister a smile as she spoke. “Thanks,” he said, taking a sip of the coffee she had pushed toward him. “I didn’t mean to take your coffee, though, really, I could have waited in line...” He yawned again, taking another fortifying sip of coffee. “Long night. There was a stakeout.” He didn’t go into anymore detail, partly because he was so tired and partly because he figured Oracle already knew about it. He lay his free arm on the table, laying his head in the crook of his elbow, his free hand still holding onto the coffee cup. “And then I have to go back in later.”

“Walking around naked in my own home is hardly illegal, Jim,” Babs said, leaning against the doorway. “Not to mention I’m not actually naked--” She adjusted the hood of the robe covering her wet hair. “And even if I was, it’s not like it’s anything you haven’t seen before.” She padded into the kitchen, her bare feet making her passage almost silent. “Peter is still at preschool,” she called over her shoulder, assuming that’s why Jim was there.

“Right, I didn’t mean it like that. It’s just-” He turned and glanced away from her. Putting his hand up to pinch the bridge of his nose. He really shouldn’t be looking at her when she looked like this anymore. “Can you put on some clothes?” He requested. Still refusing to look at her. “When will he be off? I can pick him up. I just got off work early for once so I thought...” What did he think? Was he that much of an idiot that he thought he could just walk in like this anymore? He still knew where the spare key was hid and for some reason he had the gull to use it when he shouldn’t. He suddenly felt very lost. Their house- now solely her’s- was so familiar and yet he felt like an idiot for even coming here. “Sorry, I should have told you I was coming. I wasn’t thinking.”
