The day had been long, and Jolene was tired of trying to figure out whether she hadn’t slept in six days or only the one day she felt it had been since leaving from the Fourth of July celebrations. Of course— Aurel seemed convinced she hadn’t slept in years let alone the six days she had been gone. Most likely that was the reason he insisted she be going to bed as soon as they got to her humble apartment. “I’m not even that tired, Aurel. Besides I wanna stay up and talk with you now that the annoying one is gone. It’s not fai-i-ah-” but mid word her talking turned into a yawn. Jolene was quickly becoming the stubborn and grumpy toddler that refused to sleep until she got what she wanted.
