Randomly remembered that microwaves that have actual functional popcorn buttons work by detecting the steam coming out of the bag. (Obviously that is over simplified, I don't remember the specifics.)

That led to me thinking about Luke. And now I have the headcanon that the specific model of microwave he is happens to actually have a proper popcorn button.

This may be me reading waaaay too far into something, but I have a theory about Luke Nukem and powercrank (obviously) from Date Everything. I also might be too ignorant of the world around me to see that this was really obvious, but I’m gonna roll with it.

Cw: mentions of meth comparisons, meth related psychosis issues, and allusions to needle usage under the cut.

Based directly from the game, what we know is that powercrank is…

a.) a stimulant drug (based on the knowledge that Luke stayed awake for about 49 months continuously)

b.) can be either injected (based on dialogue) or snorted (based on his datadex entry)

c.) has crank as a part of the name

and

d.) he has potential side effects of hallucinations; both audible and visible, paranoia, and self esteem issues

The real world components of meth, colloquially called “crank” include the fact that it is

a.) a stimulant drug

b.) can either be snorted or injected

and

c.) intense usage can cause hallucinations, paranoia, and self centered issues

We know Date Everything doesn’t shy away from topics of drug usage (Arma’s route with the cigarettes), and I know that Luke’s route can be played for laughs based on the line delivery they chose.

Do I believe the devs thought all of this through when writing Luke, probably not. Am I maybe reading too far into this at 12:42 in the morning, yes. This is just something that I needed to get off my chest before I repeated it to myself a million times before sleeping.
