Good luck moving on | Dabi
@dabiroki
“Think that’s the last of it.” It was the first time Dabi-- that’s what he was calling himself now-- had been home in years, and it was only to help Shouto move out for college. Everything he was taking had to be staged on the lawn to be packed into Dabi’s car, but at least they got everything out by now. All that was left after that was to see the boys off. Shouto wasn’t planning on going back until the holidays, so that would be it for several months.
Their mother and sister were the only ones outside helping. Their father was still inside the house, locked in his study. He was always like that when Dabi was involved, refusing to talk about it. It wasn’t like the whole family didn’t already know the story, though.
Shouto dusted his hands off on his jeans as the last box was stacked in the trunk. There were a few more things, such as bedding, that needed to be stuffed wherever it fit, but otherwise they were done. “I guess it’s time then...”
Shouto went up to his sister, Fuyumi, and gave her a hug, soon to be joined by their mother. Even now, he couldn’t help but spare a glance to the upstairs window, which had curtains open, only to quickly draw closed. He frowned; his father wasn’t coming down to even say goodbye.
Good fucking riddance.
“Bye Mom, Fuyumi. I’ll see you at Christmas.” As he let them go, he shouldered his computer bag and waved, getting in the passenger seat next to Dabi. What should he even say to his brother now? Good to see you? How’ve you been these past couple years? Yeah, entrance exams were a bitch, but you know. Small talk was never Shouto’s forte, so he figured it would be best to keep quiet for a while.
