See You Again (Kaleb/Kara)

“There are moments which mark your life. Moments when you realize nothing will ever be the same and time is divided into two parts, before this, and after this...”--John Hobbes
Everything had changed, changed so drastically that attempting to put it into words was a challenge. This planet was brighter, louder, more overwhelming than anything the teen had ever experienced. Their language was different, their customs even more so. Each day he was learning that all he had known now seemed so meaningless. His people were gone, his home destroyed while watching helplessly. All that was left of Krypton were him and his cousins. One who had grown, no longer needing their guidance or protection and another who was being hidden among a human family just as he was.
Kaleb had been on Earth for a month. Learning to adjust, getting to know his new home, and family. Finally, Kaleb felt comfortable enough---ready enough--to see Kara. While to some it might seem selfish, the teen had wanted to wait until things weren’t as overwhelming for him, until he could gather his thoughts and he was sure his presence wouldn’t cause more harm than good for the girl who was attempting to live what was an average life on this planet. She had been here a few months longer than him. Kal--Clark-- had told him of her adoptive family, had tried to place him with them actually, and had explained the time Kara was having. He didn’t want to disrupt that.
Now, however, he was ready to see her. Cat had approved of Kal taking him to see the Danvers, see Kara, and allow them to spend time together. Cat understood what Kara meant to him, that she was his only family left. The Danvers had agreed to have him for the weekend. So here Kaleb was, safely tucked into the arms of who the world knew as Superman as they flew high above the ground to their destination.Â
Kaleb took in the nice white home near the beach as Kal carefully lowered them to the ground. It seemed peaceful, seemed picture perfect of a family home for this planet. Kal might have just gotten Kara a home he was going to approve of. Once Kal’s feet touched the ground, the teen moved out of his arms and straighten out his shirt--another thing that was very different than from their home planet. He heard the lock of the front door retract as the handle was turned. He looked to Kal, “Nakluv....” He muttered softly in Kryptonian. Kal just looked at him, head tilted like a confused puppy. Kaleb internally scoffed. “Thanks,” The teen said this time in English.
“Oh! You’re welcome.” Kal told him with a goofy smile.
Kaleb turned his head toward the front door as it swung open and he took a step away from the superhero, eyes trained on the blonde dart headed his way. A small smile tugging at the corner of his lips, “Kara...”
