“Don’t chicken out. Eat it bitch.”
Jude pulled up outside his sister’s house with the radio playing and the widows down. The crisp night air hit the bare skin on his arms and smelt fresh compared to his dusty old car. Never one for formalities, he honked the horn quickly to tell her he was there, then turned up the song, humming along while he waited. “Finally,” he said when he saw her approaching the car. “C’mon, we’ve got albums to listen to.”

“There’s not enough juice on that steak.”
“You were right,” Kayson stated as a loud sob escaped past her lips while she leaned against her best friend’s door. “He’s been seeing other women behind my back,” she said as tears cascaded down her flushed cheeks while shaking her head. “How could I be so stupid?” Kayson asked as she pushed herself off of the door and walked over to them, pressing her forehead against their chest as she began to cry harder. “I should have listened to you, and I’m so sorry,” she choked out as her fingers gripped the material of their shirt.

Kayson stared at Andreas as a somber look fell upon her facial features. “Why don’t you trust me?” she asked as sadness laced her tone of voice while she shook her head. “He’s my boss, and that’s it. I don’t know where you’re getting this information from about me sleeping with him, but it’s not true. I come in, do my work, and then I leave. I don’t believe friendly conversation can be defined as flirting, but hey what do I know, right?” Kayson sighed as she stared down at her hands. “Where is this even coming from?” she questioned as mixed emotions began to flood her entirety.
