Andrew knew he should’ve made more of an effort to see his cousin, but everything had happened all at once and he wasn’t sure how to handle it. Helping Loraly move out of her old apartment seemed like the best way to start back up. He looked around the room at all the boxes they’d accumulated and took a deep breath. “Damn, Lor, how much stuff do you have?”

Once Andrew had been able to make sure everyone was okay, he knew he needed to find Loraly. He knew it would have been too risky for her to show up around everyone else that had been attacked, but he couldn’t help the worry that had knotted in his stomach. He’d been bandaged up, given a few potions to help reduce any scarring and allowed to go home. So that’s what he’d done. He left the others in care of the healers and went to find Loraly, going first to her apartment.

“Lor,” he called out, knocking on the door. He knew it was possible that Jennifer would be home, but he wasn’t sure if she’d be willing to talk to him. Shaking the thought from his head, he knocked again. “Lor, I’m alone, just open the door.”

’ Don’t leave me, okay? ’

“What are you talking about Loraly? Of course I’m not leaving you. I’m just going to grab another drink. I’m out of water.” She gave her friend a confused and concerned look. “Is everything okay? You can come with me you know, if you don’t want to be alone. You don’t have to just hide out in the corner by yourself.”

Landon looked up from the rim of his cup, stopping mid-sip. The mixture lingered on his lips for a moment as he set the drink down. He scanned the circle until his eyes found Lor. With his brow raised slightly, he peered at her and silently asked for her approval, unsure if this sort of thing was overstepping his bounds as a friend. When she nodded, he gave a nod back before rising to his feet and swiping his mouth clean with the back of his hand.

“You know,” Landon started, needing to make a joke to make the situation less awkward, “Castor is going to be really jealous once I tell him.”

Loraly laughed, shaking her head. “Maybe he’ll be jealous of me. Ever think about that?”

“Guess we’ll have to wait and see who gets to Honeydukes first to ask him. Until then…” Landon edged a step closer and placed a hand on her cheek. He offered a small, friendly but nervous smile before he leaned in close enough to kiss her lips simply.
