It had been a long night, even by Rionâs standards, and one he would definitely be feeling in the morning. He could tell from the way the lights danced before his eyes and the music pounded in his chest, a cacophony of sensations that dazed and overwhelmed and left him momentarily entranced with any face he saw. He hadnât seen Avalon at all that night, at least, he couldnât remember seeing her and he doubted that his girlfriend would leave his side if he had. He had almost felt sorry about that at one point but that was two bars and countless drinks ago. Now it was simply a matter of not letting people see his face with whoever he was sharing a corner with. He staggered out of Toil and Trouble into the crisp night air. It wasnât much nicer smelling out here, alcohol virtually pouring out through the doors behind him and the alley itself smelling of something much less enjoyable. He raised a cigarette to his lips, the acrid smoke battling for supremacy in his nose and his brain. A little sobering up before one last bout with drink was hardly going to hurt.
