"Alvers, you dweeb."

There wasn’t much that could make Kai worry, nothing to make him sleep with one eye open and night or even be too aware of his surroundings. Except when it came to his powers. It happened after the attack, he went to his home and found that his brother had sent him a little surprise and usually he’d just fend off the assassins and be on about his day, but something happened that shook him to his core. His powers were on the fritz, and it’s something that had never happened before.
Kai had trained ceaselessly to master control of his powers, and now they seemed to have a mind of their own surging in strength and power. He was in a secluded area, hidden by the trees as he kept on using his abilities. Beads of sweat running down his sun kissed skin as he forced each and every element to come out, but it was as if his powers were retaliating and the push back would send him hurling backwards.
“Fuck! What’s wrong with me?” he groaned getting off the ground before he noticed someone else. “Uh, how much of that did you see?”

Klara looked to Pietro, concern crossing her face. She didn’t know what he meant, but his tone gave more away to her than his words ever did. Even years later, words--especially in English--missed their mark with her, but body language was harder to fake. “Are you okay?” she asked, slipping into Russian.

Twelve year old Lupe had never exactly had a normal life. Not with her genes. Not with her parents. Not with how the world was. Not when she had been able to sense the emotions of everyone around her since before she could remember. It was hard to ignore, harder to block out entirely. But she’d learnt to manage, even if being in large crowds exhausted her still. It felt like being a sponge, soaking up every emotion--the good and the bad--until sometimes she lost herself in it. Luckily for her, her mother had been there to guide her. To show her how to control her powers enough to live.
Until today, the only mutation she had from her father was the streak of white hair that had always grown from her otherwise dark head of hair. Until she was running home one night and suddenly it was like the wind had grabbed her and flung her forward. Until the world almost blurred around her, and everything seemed to slow down. Lupe had ground to a halt, looked around, and saw what appeared to be a bird hanging still in mid-air. She stopped and stared for what felt like seconds, but couldn’t have been more than half an actual second. Then she kept running until her feet came to a proper stop outside her home.
“¡Papá!” she cried. “Dad!”
@pdmaximoff said: “ don’t get me wrong, you look completely badass.”
“Why does that feel like a sentence with a ‘but’ coming after it?” Lorna raised an eyebrow, eyeing Pietro suspiciously. “Think carefully about what you say next, hm? Might wanna stop at badass.”

“you know...you are not an easy man to track down. not just because of the whole speed thing. you’re far less....predictable than your sister is.” zemo smiled. “though i’m sure you’ve got your own faults. i’m sure i’ll learn them all soon enough.”

Klara ran as far as she could until she was sure Alisa wasn’t following. She stopped under a tree, turning back to human. Using her claws, she tears a strip from the bottom of her top and ties it around her leg as a makeshift bandage. It wasn’t much but it would do. From there she climbs the tree and shifts into a bird. Her bag lay abandoned below-- it would only weigh her down and make her slow now.
It takes days to reach the US, and she’s exhausted, but she makes it. Finally, after what feels like an age of flying, she lands back in New York. She shifts into a dog, knowing her human form-- disheveled, dirty, and bloody-- would attract more attention. She wants to fall asleep, but one thought has gotten her all the way here: she has to find Pietro ( @acceleratxd ).
