"Wasn’t expecting that but… thanks? I never knew I was your type…"
"I don't think that's going to work like you want it to."
It'd been just over two days since the last time he'd been around Parker for more than simply crossing paths (and even that had been kept to as minimal a number as possible.) That wasn't to say he hadn't been thinking of him since the other night. On the contrary; Parker had been taking over most of his thoughts since leaving his side.
He had to come up with a plan to keep him out of trouble, had to lie to everyone about where he'd gotten hurt and still had to go back to his own cell at night to lie awake instead of curling up against the blond and finding comfort in the idea of sleeping rather than fearing what nightmares would have caught up with him after such a thing had happened. That scene was something he wanted to push from his mind. That wasn't Parker -- he had no reason to remember it. Deciding that it was best to try to get over it; to shake himself of the fear and return to the one that, despite the incident, had been the one he'd found the most comfort with, Carl made the short walk to Parker's cell in the middle of the night.
His hand brushed along the wall, just barely making contact as he counted the number of cells in the darkness to make sure he'd found the right one. He didn't hesitate once reaching the bed, wasting no time as he settled beside the blond and slid his arms around him tightly - the slightest tremor being deterred by the secure hold.
"I don't blame you..."
pennyxblake replied to your post:"Hey, Carl? I got a favor ta' ask ya"
"Well I got one more night left as a person an I just….I wanted…" she’s blushing "Maybe you’d, I dunno, help me waste time till morning?"
What was she getting at? She just carried on with half thoughts. "You're not telling me any of the answers I need, Penny. What are you talking about? Waste time doing what?"
"Such a gentleman, aye?" She smiled at him before biting at the inside of her bottom lip. "Alrigh’ t’en, if ye insist." When the box was taken she hooked an arm within one of his, making sure to mind what he was carrying for her as she walked them towards the front of the store. "Ye ‘ave more manners t’an me. I woul’ ‘ave laughed at me before offerin’ ta help."
"I don't know if gentleman is the right word for it, but I try to remember to be nice to people," he said with a small nod and easy smile. He'd noticed her arm linking with his but didn't bother to say anything about it. She wasn't hurting anyone, after all. "I'm not gonna lie, if you were someone I was normally around, I probably would have laughed, Still would have helped you, but not until after I got the amusement out of my system." There was a short pause. "Where are we going with this, anyway?"
They were stuck - alone - in the dead of night, watching the other side of the fences. It was cold and uncomfortable -- and it didn't help that he'd been not-to-subtly stealing glances at the blond since a few days after he'd gotten to the prison.
"Just remember that I didn't choose to be on watch with you."
Carl, you liar. You know damn well it was your suggestion to begin with.
"That's a joke, right?"
