Finally finished the animation for C-RYU, the Dragon Idol that World Flipper was unable to release in 2024 :3 It was a lot of fun making this fan design and putting together the sprites for it.

Frames are in the read more. [I have also drawn a base and promoted form for him]

Decided to try out this style in order to design a certain dragon - specially, the Dragon-themed Cosmic Idol! This would be his base art.

Since World Flipper's last units dropped on 11/30, we aren't getting any new units on New Years. But curiously, we do get some information about this character in the guide? Since his Cosmic Beast is Light-favored, I tried to make a design that gave the impression that he'd be on a Light Team.

I'm hoping to make an Awoken Art of him soon :3

I drew the promoted form for my design of C-RYU :3 (the base form is here)

The fact that Shouta and Nova convinced him to keep his name...it's pretty important, so I wanted to put them in there. The others....shh, its fine, let them cook.

(I also thought a lot today about what sort of niche he's fill. While there's a part of me that could make things easy and slot him into fever/direct atk....I've decided that his true calling is ability damage.)

It was interesting coming up with a design for him, but it was also interesting compiling information about him, because there's a lot in the flipperpedia (in JP) that was stealth dropped with very little explanation? I should document it sometime because some of it is QUITE the adventure.

(I also firmly believe that we would have gotten more information on Toria's place - the dynamic of a Local Idol and a person who's deadset on getting her Kingdom on the map would have made for some funny antics, im sure.)

Hello, I really like C-RYU. He's my favorite little guy, but World Flipper never formally released him. So I've made a lot of content for him...and have been reading his background entries.

Here are some of them [Please note that my translation is not particularly good].

C-RYU:

季節外れにミレイア王国へと降り立った 『辰国』を代表するコズミックアイドル。 C-RYUと書いて、シリュウと読む。 男性。

Landing in the out-of-touch Mirea Kingdom, he is the Cosmic Idol representing Tatsukuni. Though it is written as C-RYU, his name is pronounced "Shiryu". A male Idol.

ご当地タイプのアイドルで 方言と標準語、二つのスタイルを用いた トリッキーなパフォーマンスを得意とする。

Specializing in "Tricky Performances", C-RYU is a local* type Idol who uses both his native dialect and standard Japanese** when performing. *Local feels like 'rural' but not; need a better word **It might not actually be Japanese dialects, but there's not enough information here.

アイドルを越えた伝説の存在 超偶像『スタア』 を自称している。

He is a self-proclaimed "Star" - a legend surpassing that of a typical idol.

その非常に意味深な名前から とある『龍』 との繋がりを想起してしまうが そのような裏は、一切、ない。 単なる偶然の一致である。

Though his name has a strong connection to a certain dragon*, the name C-RYU wasn't chosen for that reason. It was purely coincidence. *始龍, which can be read as [shiryu], is the name of the origin dragon, who was responsible for quite a number of things in the World Flipper game. Folks from Shibuya in particular know this dragon well from the powers various users gained when they saw 'the dragon's iris', and not to mention, everything with Mikoto....

彼自身はなにひとつ悪くない。 ないのだが、その紛らわしい名前のせいで 名乗る度に多くの人々からビクッとされる。

There's nothing wrong with C-RYU himself. Many people are simply surprised to hear his name due to this confusion.

その為、一時期は本気で改名を考えていたが 伊野里ショウタとノヴァの説得を受けて思いとどまった。

In fact, he had even considered changing his name. However, both Shota and Nova convinced him to keep it.

現在では『シリュウ』 の響きを 自身の名で塗り替える気概を持って アイドル活動に励んでいる.

Nowadays, C-RYU works hard to be known as the Idol with the name pronounced "Shiryu".

One of the Twelve Heavenly Cosmic Beasts. They are an "Idoryuu" - a new species of Dragon following both the Ancient Dragons and the Serpents.

CRYUと共に 辰国のアイドルユニット 『IDRA (アイドラ)』 として活動している。 光属性。

Alongside C-RYU, they form the Tatsukuni Unit known as IDRA. A Light Attribute Dragon.
