"I'm sorry, Emil."

Ada has never call herself someone who's had a crisis of conscience in her life. She's had doubts, and her moments of uncertainty, but they've always been resolved quickly - usually, only strengthening her belief that she's on the right path, whatever that path might be.

But today, for the first time, she finds herself overwhelmed by sorrow. ...She doesn't regret anything she's done to Emil, since all of it is what led them down the path of being together like this, now. Emil chose to be with her - that, she firmly believes. Even a choice paired with great pain is a choice made by oneself, proof that you're alive; that your existence means something... Many see Emil as weak, but truth be told, Ada thinks he's extraordinarily strong.

No, it's not regret that she feels, exactly. But she wonders if she could've done some things differently. If she'd taken the time to look inside herself, instead of just her patients, would she have spotted what was lurking there a little sooner?
