Superchief Gallery is very proud to present The Divine Distractions- a solo show by C. Finley, running from March 21st - April 4th.

Opening party this Saturday, March 21st from 7pm-10pm

The entire warehouse gallery will be taken over by her large scale, vibrant and beautiful psychedelic images of women in classic, divine poses. Paintings that are 12ft tall and one that is 48 feet wide, we’ve never shared something on this scale, you’d be foolish to miss this installation.

Finley will be in residency all month long, hosting a series of cultural events at the gallery throughout the run of the exhibition. This will also mark the return and the 6th year of her Wallpapered Dumpster Project, after doing it in 14 countries and having the project covered bythe NYTimes- she is finally bringing it back to the city where it all began, Los Angeles.

Sculptures so trashy, they're high art. There are those who call contemporary art trash, but C. Finley takes it as a compliment. The Missouri-born, Brooklyn-based artist has made it her mission in 2010 to turn waste collectors into pieces worthy of collecting. The Wallpapered Dumpster Project, which she formally kicked off last year with works in Los Angeles and Rome, features the transformation of an everyday eyesore. “I like to think of these inventions as polite graffiti,” she admits. Like her paintings, which focus on modern femininity, the dumpsters’ boldly patterned prints are practically “girly”; patterns that you’d more likely see on a dress bring up notions of domesticity, beauty, and waste.
