Today is the birthday of O'Shea Jackson Sr. (born June 15, 1969), known professionally as Ice Cube is a rapper, actor, and writer. Before he gained his fame member of the controversial rap group N.W.A. He was a member of the rap group C.I.A. the group ended after three years. After the group disbanded he formed N.W.A with Eazy-E and Dr.Dre who were members of C.I.A. N.W.A. had a big impact on rap music and popular culture in the mid-’80s mostly because of their controversial lyrics. In 1989, Ice Cube left the group after problems in the group and started a successful solo career he released several platinum albums the albums had harsh socio-political themes and storytelling which earned him praise from fans and critics. In 1991, his popularity rose after starring in one of my favorite films Boyz n the Hood. Ice Cube is one of the rappers that appears in a number of films and still keeps his “ street cred”. He was often cast as a thug or tough guy but, Ice Cube is down earth and centered guy. Along with appearing in films, Ice Cube even wrote the first Friday in cult classic series. He will continue Wes to play a powerful and influential role in hip-hop.
