“Me and mine have killed more than you could imagine,” pride was obvious in his voice. How could he be anything but proud of his siblings, had they not preformed the duties which they were brought into the world for perfectly?

If you manage to befriend/gain the trust any of the Riders of Mannan, it’s a rare occurrence and the last time it was done was when they entered into their agreement with the unseelie rulers, you get all of them.

“I don’t know what you’re doing here but these caves aren’t a place for explorers,” their home was deep in the wilds of the Faerie and those from this realm knew better than to bother them there. “If my sister had been the one to find you you’d be dead right now.
“Father wasn’t a warrior,” Karn insisted, not entirely comfortable with this line of conversation. The loss of their father’s guiding hands was an old wound that had never quite healed right for any of them. They were fairly certain he wasn’t dead but he had certainly made sure none of them could find him. “He simply wished to protect and even then he made us to be his blades.”

“Do not assume I owe any loyalty to those that call themselves faeries,” they were far from kin to him and his siblings. Their long gone ancestors were but they were but a faint reflection of those who lived in the times when their father was still around.
Last of the Riders - Karn
The fight against the giant that had been Julian and Emma was the end of the riders, or at least that seemed to be the case at the time. In reality Karn had merely fallen unconscious, his wounds great but not unhealable by the magic which the Riders were created with in the first place.
When he awoke the fight was over and all his siblings were dead. In his grief he fled to the one place he considered home, the hill under which he and his siblings slept in between being called to help the King. For awhile he stayed there, consumed by the grief of being alone for the first time in his life. In this time of grief he was forced to face a truth that he and his siblings had long ignored. They had outlived the purpose for which they were created by Mannan. As much as they may have pretended otherwise all the great monstrosities they had been created to slay had died at their hands long before the man who would be the first ruler of the unseelie court approached them for help.
Now, with that truth grimly accepted, he is trying to find a way to exist in this new world that his father would have approved of. He no longer wears the armor indicative of the Riders and mostly just keeps his head down.
“Most aren’t foolish enough to approach us,” except there was no us, Karn was alone. It was rare for any of the Riders to be alone but he had been sent to do something small for the one they had sworn to themselves.
