pov: you are being romanced
Quotes about the strange nature of Taliesin's existence - Day 68
Taliesin: rolls yet another nat 20 Laura: "With a different die?" Taliesin: "With a different die, of course with a different die." Marisha: "Shut the fuck up!" Travis: "Who are you? You're the Jesus of..." Taliesin: "I'm the devil. I am the devil and I have come to do the devil's work." Matt: "So all of you who are going to conventions to meet Taliesin in the future, make sure you get a nice long hold of his hand, so you can roll better, too." Taliesin: "I will lick your die, because that's how I bless them."
(C1E33 Part 2)
"You know that I'm in love with you, right?"
BE RIGHT BACK I'M DYING
.....suddenly reminded that in the original scene percy took on a whole different tone to mimic ripley’s interrogation back at her
I gotta say, I really like the way TLOVM upped the tension and stakes of the fight with Anders! After now seeing the stream version, it's wild to me that in the stream:
Vax is the first one to see Cass
Percy kills Anders relatively quickly and then they still have to take care of the suits of armor. Makes sense by d&d rules, but still.
The way that "darling, take your mask off" was almost like an aside before Vex turned and kept shooting people. I know it held significance to shippers and was still an important line to people in retrospect, but the choice to move it in the show gave it maximum impact. It didn't seem to have as huge an impact on the party because of the timing of it mid-fight with the armor, too.
Vax's confession was right after this?? Damn. It does make sense in the context of the campaign and the number of times he's almost died, but.
Ripley using this as an exit point
After now seeing both, I'm really impressed by how the team adapted this fight in particular. Facing Anders outside of the castle lets the focus be on him and Cass without Ripley being around yet. Having Percy be the one to discover them leads to maximum tension and impact for him (also increased pain as he sees his sister's throat slit in front of him...oof). The climax of the fight is Percy shooting Anders, as it should be. Anders managed to dominate and control the whole party, not just Grog. And seeing and hearing Cass was enough to snap Percy out of revenge mode, which is also pretty in character. Vex didn't have to step in yet.
Also, putting Ripley later on is definitely less confusing for new viewers.
Finally, it was also interesting to me that in the show, Percy specifically told Cass he thought she was dead as his rationale for leaving. Stream Percy hasn't said this, though Cass says she thought Percy was dead.
High five me!
watching episode 33 right now and oh my goddd percy is becoming my absolute favorite he had so many great lines just in this ep like:
Percy: “can you lead us to Cassandra De Rolo?”
Anna: “why?”
Percy: “this may be what your life is worth.”
Percy: “you’re the luckiest person in Whitestone, do you know why?”
Anna: “why?”
Percy: “you’re at the bottom of my list”
Percy: “you’re the face I saw when murder entered my heart.”
(I know I’m so late to watching this but GOD shivers down my spine jfjsjrjak I’m freaking out)
vax, still bleeding, stumbling over to keyleth and saying “that was a close one.” and keyleth starting to give him shit for getting them into a situation like this again and vax telling keyleth “you know I’m in love with you, right?” and kissing her 😳 (bonus: percy coughing awkwardly in the background 😅)
