Uncle Ducey!
Do Not Repost or Crop!
so uh. did not think i'd need to make another one of these.
GOD OKAY SO MANY FEELINGS ABOUT TONIGHT'S EPISODE
BUT I JUST WANT TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO
Yeza Brenatto
The poor guy got told he needed to pack up him and his son because the bastards that have been harassing his family are most likely going to use him and Luc against Veth. Then, they go to another fucking plane of existence, where within like 30 minutes, he's witnessing his wife and the Mighty Nein in action - to the detriment of his FOUR YEAR OLD son. Luc died! Marion saw it happen in front of her! Then, in a rage (fully deserved), Veth murders the bitch who killed her son, so that the gentle giant Caduceus can resurrect their son.
And what was Yeza's response to the whirlwind of emotions and trauma in the last few hours? Making sure Veth knew it wasn't her fault, and not blaming anyone from the M9 for Luc's death. Because it would have been so, so easy to blame them or even Veth for their child's death, even if he didn't mean it. Even if it was just something that bubbled up from nowhere, Yeza could have pointed to anyone in that room and said "I blame you for this. This is your fault." and he didn't. He saw that Veth was tearing herself apart for what just happened - who wouldn't - and told her it was the monster's fault. No one else's. In fact, Veth was the one who killed it, which saved them from further losses, and allowed the clerics to do their thing!
So I just want to appreciate that moment. I want to appreciate the storytelling and the characterization put in place by Matt and Sam. There's a lot that happened, but that moment, I think, is the one that stuck out profoundly in not only tonight's episode, but also Veth and Yeza's relationship.
To anyone who thinks Matt acted in bad faith or was trying to fuck them over with what happened to Luc:
Friendly reminder that Matt went out of his way to give Marion, Yeza, and Luc advantage on that save. Think about how bad things would have been if Caduceus had had to revive two or three of the NPCs.
Friendly reminder that Matt rolled the resurrection ritual die behind the screen where we can’t see it instead of making Taliesin roll for it out in the open like he did with Fjord and Orly.
Friendly reminder he did not tell us what he rolled.
Caduceus for the win! Please remember to hug and cherish (and generously supply) your clerics.
Sooo..... what an episode, huh
And this episode demonstrates why you leave the clerics outside the HFB when traveling to the unknown. Caddy came in fucking clutch today. Grave clerics turn their whole party into fucking cockroaches.
More Uncle Cad and Luc, please!
