it's 8 am so it's time for a creatures 3 docking station wolfling run rant

i've only recently started doing wolfling runs in c3ds, if you arent familiar with those it's where you dont intefere with a population of norns and see if they manage to survive on their own.

the highest generation ive managed to go up so far is i think 16? but something horrible happened last night.

i had a plague causing antigen 2 pretty much wipe out my entire population, im not too familiar with bacteria so i wasn't aware that even if you cull/mercy kill the infected creatures that there's still bacteria in the room that can continue to infect and spread + mutate

i kept an eye on my population after they recovered from the first wave and added some fresh gen 1s, i watched them for a few hours before going to bed, nothing showed up on the medical monitor

but this morning, my population of 50 was down to just three norns

if youve ever had a wolfling run you know how sad this is to wake up to LOL

something crazy i noticed is that these two babies have been alive for almost 16 hours and yet they still havent grown a life stage at all. theyre eternally babies LMAo

i didn't even know peter pan syndrome was a thing in creatures, i dont know what antigen 2 does but im guessing it stunted his growth?

i was wondering how they were still alive, then i took a look at the medical monitor

theyve been living with bacteria that caused them so much pain for almost 8 hours, and were still alive. before bed coconut lemon was healthy, despite me trying to drown him out of mercy when i first discovered he was sick, he survived that and could now breathe underwater. now i come back, he's sick again, but he's still kicking.

i was determined to finally step in and help him get better, and he's finally doing so much better! i was so impressed by his will to live and the suffering he went through, i had to make sure he'd be able to thrive after his hardships

unfortunately carrot wing had to be culled immediately... due to 11 bacteria living in his system. ive never seen so many lol. i shot him out the airlock

i tried to stabilize coconut's butterfly mutant sibling, copywriter, but for some reason he died almost immediately after setting him up in an non bacteria infested room. rip copywriter

Also I’m not able to dig through everything right now, but I definitely have some compiled gifs intended for the Banshee Ark project that I think didn’t see use!

Inkcap mushrooms! Don’t remember if these were meant to come with a dispenser that wasn’t made, or be injectable from within the meta room itself, but there were a lot of requests for fungi sprites since Grendels seem to like damp jungle areas and they were the emphasis of the project.

A tiny button mushroom- One frame of this growth cycle made it into one of the ‘planter’ agents. I love those things but I wish that they could have had viable seeds produced instead of just food items.

An edit of an existing bg image tree from the norn meso! It would have very occasionally supplied nutrient rich shelf fungi.

I don’t *think* this planter ever got used: it would produce cotton puffs and hydrangea blooms(? or was it seeds?)

A tree that was very heavily inspired by the blackleaf cotton plant! The area needed more ‘naturally occurring’ items that could be classified as Toys: Cotton seed puffs were suggested.

These were the flowering and berry cycle for a ‘jungle geranium’. There was an above water and submerged version (red above water, blue below). I’ve honestly never been a fan of ‘flooding’ metarooms in creatures games because it always looks awkward to me (these areas never LOOK underwater) and the fact it cuts out usable areas for land creatures. I’m not one to disappoint on a project though!

Holy shit the CRAYLEECH statue. I don’t think this ever got used anywhere to my knowledge but I’m VERY proud of it. It’s a reference back to the little chimera ‘mother animals’ in the project’s dispensers: I can’t find the original file with the full ‘crayleech’ exposed but there’s hints of it if you look closely here:

I’d forgotten about THIS one! It’s a nudibranch-filefish mix, it’s listed as ‘Nudirostris statue’. Obviously it never got animated. I *did* find the original pixel version that is inside the dispenser though:
