halfway-through-an-episode critical role thoughts time: i know i said this for episode 77 and then i said it again for episode 78 but i do think this episode of c3 (episode 79) might be my favourite one yet.
(i am not done yet but) the truth chasm? the blindfolds? so much fun and so inventive? morri and allura and the unseelie reveal? we've just been in such a good run of such good episodes and it's so so so good (and so much of the tension and build up and character work of the previous episode is really paying off in a big way recently!)
(but also like I do love when cr leans into the structure of the actual play game and the things that does to the narrative, and i think so much of my favourite moments: the big button-pushing, the weird mechanical things, the character moments that come out of class choices or feats or unexpected dice rolls, and the entire fucking conceit of the scavenger hunt in this episode was just so good and something that yeah is just tied to the medium of actual play! and it's so good!!! i am loving this so much!!!)
