“It feels like all the evidence we’re getting contradicts what’s written down in the MonoKuma file.” Melissa sighed heavily. She felt sick of talking about this by now as it felt like they were going around in circles. “What exactly does it say?”
Jacob got out his e-Handbook and read what it said aloud. “The first victim has vomited a considerable volume of blood, which is what killed them. Aside from this, there are no external wounds. The second victim was killed by being drowned. Death was not as quick for this victim as they were unconscious and then left in the water to drown themselves. Besides few markings around the victim’s neck, no other external wounds are present. The third victim was killed by a crushed windpipe and death was instant. Besides markings around the neck, there are no other external wounds.” Putting it away, he then clarified. “That’s what it says word for word in that order.”
“Wait! What did it say? We have the right to know!” Elettra argued, glaring. “That was addressed to me, ergo I should know.”
“Should you? Hmmm, I don’t think you do. Too bad so sad. Call it revenge for you guys getting too close.” Kuma decided. “Anyway, it’s time you guys go, but before you do: can you really cut off all ties with the outside world? Are you really okay with spending the rest of your lives here? Only you five? Together forever until you expire? That’s, what, about fifty years together. In the same place. I know this school is pretty big, but places can seem smaller after a few weeks, let alone decades. Can you really spend that long with each other within these walls?” The lift dinged from back inside the trial room, indicating they could leave again. “Think about it, give it a real good think through.” And with that, they disappeared.
“Of course, we knew! Who do you think put the laptop there in the first place? We knew some old tech monkey had messed around with it, but all the files had been so heavily encrypted, we thought you wouldn’t live long enough to see the files. We figured it would be like a gift, but then you started getting crafty and well we couldn’t allow that to happen, now could we?” Kuma explained their actions, grinning as she did so.
“It would have given you an unfair advantage.” Mono agreed with her sister. “We knew your every move, and you were oblivious to it. We should probably also finish the letter, huh? So…” Mono then shushed them with her finger to her mouth.
