The jetsons comment in your post had me thinking; that's one of the best things about retro computing, it reminds us how awesome our current tech is. It's easy for the grass to be greener on the other side but my galaxy S6 has a 14nm octacore processor and that's pretty amazing.
While retro computing does give us perspective, it also shows us the technologies and design choices that didn’t make it to modern day machines, but may still have merit to them.
Plus, they look cool.
