the battle between leaf and luka had been a tough, long battle that drew in the attention from those outside to form a crowd within the gym. though gym leader for a short time, leaf had built up a reputation of being rarely beaten and luka had come close to being a notable exception - had it not been for a rain dance and weather ball combo from leaf’s roserade and a flame blast from luka’s talonflame that ko’d each other ending the battle in a draw. having been good friends with luka - leaf being born in woodpine town himself - he invited the taller back into the small house behind the gym where he spent the evenings. 

“i think leafeon might be holding a grudge against you,” leaf commented with a laugh, noticing how his signature pokemon seemed to turn up its nose at luka, “before your talonflame came along, it hadn’t been beaten for months.”

So when I was assistant teaching today I noticed a poster in the classroom that was all about leaves.

And my brain immediately, went to, "I AM A LEAF ON THE WIND. WATCH HOW I *die*"

So I squeaked. Cuing confused looks from a bunch of second graders who are probably more emotionally adjusted than me.
