Romeo was preoccupied with the hors d'oeuvres when he spotted the man he’d been keeping an eye out for since the secret santa event had ended and been made not so secret. Captain Hadrian was a mystery to say the least - very hard to shop for, he didn’t tell anyone much of anything about himself and didn’t even use his real name. He could respect the need for privacy, but damn did it make him wanna know more. It made him want to figure him out, learn what kinda guy he really was; at the very least he wanted to make good on the rest of his secret santa gift. Finishing the rest of the bite-sized snack he’d swiped up, he approached the man with an easy smile.

“Ahoy there, Captain. Lookin’ sharp.” Admittedly not his best opener, but also not his worst.

Location: Library Date: The morning of Thursday July 1st @andlilith @hadrianvilliers

It was utterly predictable that he would walk through the de Cervantes library doors first thing in the morning. It had once been part of his summer routine, and the place where Julian always came to find him - or anyone joining the summer fun for that matter. There had been a time during his peak hermit lifestyle that he’d resigned himself to the idea of never again being able to step on the impeccable floors he now strolled.   Yet there he was, making echoes fill the vastness of his old friend’s home. “Hello again,” he told the books he’d devoured in the past, touching their spine lightly as he walked by. Without selecting a book, Amadeo took a seat at his favorite spot. He closed his eyes and let the memories flood back; the good, the bad, and the ugly. This would always be his library, every book he’d borrowed held his memories. From the one he struggled to finish between his and Julian’s fit of laughter, to the one Julian had thrown out the window in a fit of anger. 

It hurt to sit there, and Amadeo wouldn’t have it any other way. He let the hurt seep into him and boil in the pit of his stomach. And from his lips sprung forth Segismundo’s monologue with tones of pain, anger, and pleasure. Amadeo took a deep breath then, and addressed the approaching steps before his eyes opened:  “In some things, I allow myself to be predictable. Good morning Jaya.”

All she could feel was panic. This wasn’t her. This wasn’t Colette. This wasn’t Clotho. She thought being in the castle was going to give her a sense of power back. She needed the power back she used to have. The one that made gods tremble before her. But here she had nothing. No sisters. No power. Barely any friends. No group to rely on. Instead now she felt as if she was being haunted by what had happened. Her nightmares pulled her from her sleep every night. And they weren’t just about her sister but about the dungeon. Being locked away once again. She always knew she had been cursed with knowledge. Cursed to know who she was when no one else did. But now she was also cursed by the haunting memories of the dungeons and the guards that inhabited the castle. She saw them everywhere. She could escape them. The very people who were supposed to be “protecting” her in the castle were some of the very same who had hurt and others in the dungeons. She normally did rather well at holding things in but today she couldn’t handle it. Days of no sleep and isolation was pushing her past her limits. She barely remembered leaving the castle, or running through the city towards the forest. The only thing that was waking her from her almost trance was the whipping of branches against her skin as she ran through the woods. She had no idea how long she would have kept running if she had not fallen. She collapsed on the ground, heaving trying to control her breathing. She’d never had a panic attack, not one like this. She couldn’t control her panting, or the sobs that erupted from her chest. This wasn’t her. But it wasn’t something she could just stop. She had nothing right now, except her cries and the woods that surrounded her.
