Nathan didn’t know why he was standing before the one person who tore out his heart and stomped on it, but he was and now he was overwhelmed with pent up emotions. He ran his shaky fingers through his dark locks while his brown hues glanced down at the ground momentarily. “For now the day bleeds into nightfall and you’re not here to get me through it all. I let my guard down, and then you pulled the rug,” the male whispered as he shook his head while trying to fight the tears; something that he didn’t want the female to witness firsthand. “I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved,” Nathan said as his voice broke near the end which caused him to clear his throat in hopes that she wouldn’t notice it. He had invested so much time, love, and energy on her only for it to blow up in his face and now he was living with the repercussions from it; a situation that left him broken as each day he tried to gather a few pieces in order to put himself back together.
