Altered artists' book. A copy of Ezra Pound's Cantos (fourth paperbound edition, New Directions, 1996) with almost all of the text (about 800 pages) whited-out. Yeary took Jackson Mac Low's erasure poem "Words nd Ends from Ez" (Avenue B, 1989), which is an erasure of Pound's Cantos, a poem that consists of algorithmically selected words and word-parts of the larger book. Mac Low's "Words nd Ends from Ez" does not carry the negative space left from the erasure of Mac Low, Yeary's artist's book is an attempt to show the expanse of that negated text. The result is a book with a broken spine, pages curved and warped with layers of white acrylic on nearly every page. The work appeared alongside the work of Derek Beaulieau, Sean Joseph Patrick Carney, Sydney S. Kim and others in the gallery event "Reading.Writing." curated by Research Club and Lisa Radon in late summer of 2011, with an essay by the artist featured in the catalogue. An accompanying "poetic illustration" to the artists' book was published in the journal Peaches & Bats 7 as "First Line Scratched Out."
