// Implied SA, discussions of acephobia, arophobia, and racism
[ID: A two panel line art fan comic. The entire piece is colored in bright yellow, and the line art is black. In the first panel, Angel is facing left—his eyes peering right. He has a sad expression on his face. The second panel Alastor is facing the opposite direction, his eyes also looking right. He looks visibly irritated and tired. Below the panels is dialogue from Angel reading, “I know we’ve had some differences and we aren’t close, but I’m sorry what those entitled fucks did to you. You didn’t deserve it. No one does.” The bottom right corner contain the artist’s watermark reading, “@Teeth_Cable. @Teeth-Cable.tumblr.com”.]
I know that season 2 of Hazbin Hotel released, and truth be told; I haven't watched any of it. However it doesn't matter to me because of how Vox assaulted of Alastor was depicted. Whether it was physical or not (which would still count under non-physical sexual assault), it was awful and really shined Viv and co's true thoughts on sexual assault and it's relation to how the queer community is victimized. Which honestly isn't surprising to me but it doesn't make it any less upsetting.
It does break my heart to see how this confirmed asexual (and coded aromantic) Black man was victimized by an alloromantic and allosexual white man and it was treated as a joke (Won't even get into how queer POCs are more likely to experience rape and sexual trauma too). Even worse when the show gets praised for having good representation, and this is it.
Showrunners and queer people like Viv don't care about us or the hardships we go through as aspec/aro-aspec/aroace people. We're just used to fish in praise points while the seriousness and realities of our situations get ignored or used for jokes. There are so many aspec & aro-aspec & aroace who have been victimized and traumatized sexually and emotionally from allos because of allonormativity and amatonormativity (plus that intersected with the white entitlement already directed towards POC)
If anyone wants to support aspec/aro-aspec/aroace people: boost our stories and experience, support projects by us, listen and be there for our hardships as allies, call out any signs of aphobia, arophobia, allonormativity and amatonormativity you see. Create a safe place for us. Include us in writing projects with aspec/aro-aspec/aroace character especially if it involves sexual or romantic situations with them. And don't support projects like Hazbin Hazbin Hotel or people like Viv where it's clear that our identities are only seen jokes and nuisance by them.
