(04-26-2024) SELEUSS - COCOA CHOCOLATE PRICES UPDATE
Above is a screen capture of the CC00 or Cocoa Continuous Contract price and as you can see, its currently at $10,722 per MT. Versus $3,794 back on 11/01/2023. That is a 182% increase since the holidays!
As per our previous posts, our ingredients costs have also gone up tremendously since Q3 2023 and much more since the global pandemic shutdown in 2020. BTW, we were closed for 7 months back in 2020, from March to October and what a ride it has been the last 4 years!!
As you can see in the contract pricing chart above, the future prices are expected to come down around Q3 2024 and much more by Q4 2025, however, but not down to Q4 2023 prices. The December 2025 contract at the current $7400 is almost double of the November 1st 2023 close at $3794. Therefore, we do not expect cocoa/chocolate prices to fall back to 2023 Holiday prices anytime soon...
Here are SELEUSS, rather than cutting costs, reducing chocolate bar sizes and weights, and filling your truffles with more sugar (ie Caramels) or cheaper milk chocolates, we will be maintaining our standards, however you will be seeing gradual and inevitable increases in the price of our chocolates... :/
