My Near cosplay when I went to ACX 2023 Day 1 !! :D

It was my first con and it was super fun!!! I wanna go to another convention at some point. More pics 1 , 2

I made the mask bc I didn’t wanna show my face, but I think I channeled Near a little too much because when my friends watched the walk tour video you could only see blurred figures of me LMAOO

Something I noticed with Abuela, is her black scarf.

Through out the movie she is seen wearing it.

It’s shown in the movie that she started wearing it after Abuelo Pedro dies, she continued to wear it for decades.

And she only stops wearing it when she and Mirabel talks.

The black scarf is a symbol of her carrying the trauma that was caused from the war. To the death of her husband, to their village getting ransacked, and to losing their homes.

It isn’t worn anymore afterwards because she was finally able to confront that part of her life, in doing so she learned to let go of the lingering fear and protective grip she had on her family.

She finally can heal.

I like how bruno keeps knocking on wood, as if to ensure, that even a mere thought of a vision or prophecy won’t happen. Idk if Colombia shares the same superstition(?), I’d assume yes. All things considered its such a neat detail. :D
