Please tell me about your owl!alec WIP, that title is hilariously intriguing!
[wip meme] Unfortunately not hilarious! The Owl is the name of a creepy possessing demon thing in s3 of Shadowhunters, and I have trouble with this storyline for a few reasons, but in terms of this fic, I am concerned because Shadowhunters are supposed to mostly be immune to possession (or else they’d be very bad at their demon hunting purpose after all) and the fact that there was a demon that could possess them in s2 was kind of a big deal, but then this one just sort of... gobbled a guy up in s3, and got to hang out and do scary shit when said guy was sleeping. There were extenuating circumstances in the show, but? *shrug-emoji* I never really liked them. *laughs*
So it’s kind of a fix-it fic, as to how I think the demon managed it, but that also meant that said demon ended up uh... possessing Alec (which didn’t happen in canon).
For @echo-bleu (who also asked about owl!Alec):
Alec doesn't respond. His gaze doesn't even flicker away from Magnus' face, his body doesn't shift. Izzy feels something twist underneath her lungs, something cold digging in between breaths that are too thin.
He hasn't looked at her at all. When he glanced over them all when he entered the room he hadn't met her eyes, when he walked in he hadn't nodded at her; he'd walked right by her without even a lean in her direction, without a hand against her arm or a shifted shoulder for an implied hello.
In her entire life, that's never happened before. Even when he's distracted by Magnus, he always offers her at least a smile after they've greeted each other. He's never not acknowledged her presence, he's never not noticed her in a room, no matter what else was happening, no matter who else was there.
"Who are you?" She barely manages to speak this time, but she can feel something shift in the air, can see everyone else tense.
He, it, doesn't answer. He leans in closer to Magnus, whispering something she can't hear. It's smiling, something sharp and dark and wrong and nothing at all like her brother even though it's using his face, and then it's out the balcony doors, and over the edge, and Izzy can't stop the scream cracking in her throat as she follows, caught between my brother is falling and what is it and how and she's staring over the edge, her fingers gripping the ledge so tight she can feel one of her nails start to crack, but she can't see him... can't see it, whoever whatever it is, wherever it's gone.
