Ugh snap! I see those gifs of Michael Scofield but I'm totally seeing young!Len too and he's just so gorgeous! I HC his darling partner Mick use to make a very (not)discrete effort to get thrown into prison with Len just to be on the safe side. That is until Len wised up and told him to knock it off.
Snart was just so darn pretty. A perfect, gorgeous snowflake, which was exactly what you didn’t want to be in prison. Guy could handle himself fine now that they were older, but that wouldn’t save him against a gang.
So the first time Snart got put away for a longer stretch, even though Mick had been on the job with him and got away, Mick managed to ‘accidentally’...punch a cop in the face.
Snart wasn’t pleased with him when they got put into general population together. “I got caught so you could get away with the haul, Mick! Then you get into a fist fight with a uniform?”
“The haul’s safe.”
“That’s not the point, I...” And Snart went on to explain, in his eloquent, lilting way about restraint and how much more they could accomplish if they weren’t both behind bars.
Snart didn’t notice the disappointed looks thrown their way when several grimey and gruff looking inmates saw the new ‘pretty’ with a pile of muscle next to him. Damn right, he was off limits, Mick would say with a single glare. Worth it to be in the clank, even if Snart was oblivious.
Mick didn’t learn that Snart was very much NOT oblivious until their third time in. The second time they’d been caught together anyway, didn’t matter. But the third was another incident where Snart took the fall and let Mick get away. So of course Mick made the ‘mistake’ of fencing to the wrong person, knowing it was a cop who’d toss his ass in after his partner.
Snart was furious. But not for the reasons Mick expected.
“I can take care of myself. I’m not that same fourteen-year-old you needed to rescue, Mick. Stop being stupid just to protect me.”
But Mick knew better. Snart didn’t know how bad it could be. “You taken a look at yourself lately? Taken a look around? You wait until someone gets you into a nice, dark corner, then say you don’t need protection.”
But Snart being Snart took that as a challenge. Avoided Mick. Went off in the yard without him. Prowled areas of the prison he shouldn’t when Mick couldn’t follow. And he did get cornered. And there were a lot of them. And even though he came out bloody and beaten, none of them had laid a hand on him the way they’d planned.
Mick still didn’t like it. Didn’t care that Snart could defend himself, because one day maybe he wouldn’t be so lucky. So he told his friend plainly, “You don’t pull that shit again. You want me around, I can get myself thrown in here with you any time I want. You want us to be better? Stop getting thrown in first!”
And so it went, unspoken but patterned, that if only one of them was ever caught, it was always Mick from that point on.
