Following his brother's lead, the younger twin called back his Sylveon and let out his Absol. "I believe she's the only one eligible. My brother was just here..." He wasn't sure why Kouichi had decided to help, but figured that the other was more bored than anything. Still, he couldn't help but go along with it.

Hemlock nodded, searching once more for the appropriate stone. “You’ve got a special one there,” she commented. “Ken of the Elite Four has a Mega Absol too.”

Finding the Absolite she was looking for, she said, “There we go,” and held it out to him, only to realize her mistake. She walked over it to him and placed it directly in his palm. “Thank you and your brother both.”

Ken didn’t want a new brother. He wanted his old one back. He knew that could never happen, of course. But there was no replacement for Osamu, and right now? He hated his parents for trying to fill up that hole in their lives.

So when his ‘new brother’--one younger than him, no less--came through their apartment door, he refused to come out of his room to greet him. He could hear his parents talking to the boy in the living room, but he refused to leave his bedroom.

A room he once shared with Osamu, and would now share with a stranger.

But no matter how stubborn he wanted to be (he even contemplated locking the door), guilt gnawed at him. It wasn’t Kouji Minamoto’s fault that he was being adopted by the Ichijoujis. Maybe he should go out and try and smile and say hello...

They were in the wrecked basement station, watching as Lucemon began to flicker out of existence. Not before a final proposition, however.

“You have bested me. I’m impressed. I have...an offer.”

“Not interested!” the lone girl snapped out.

The monster ignored her. “I will grant you one wish, anything you desire, but in exchange I will take something, too.”

Izumi frowned, hands now resting on hips. “And I said not interested. Isn’t that right, everyone?”

Lucemon merely chuckled at her response. “Let your companions choose for themselves.”
