There wasn't a lot of opportunity to take photos of my work in progress as I was mostly covered in clay. I really liked this piece and I love how wet and disgusting and horrid it is. It didn't make it into the final collection because it wasn't quite in line with the rest of the pieces but I regret having nowhere to store it for later.
I experimented with a few different mixes of stoneware clay. By far my least favourite is the beautiful silky smooth clay (left) we all got in bulk in our starter packs, as it doesn't hold tears and wet additions as well for my purposes. But, it was much nicer on my hands than the honest to god 30 grit sandpaper (right) that produced my favourite results, and I had heaps more of it.
sketches- i want my forms to be explosive, dynamic, capture the raw material. everything that inspires me about glass that I can translate to clay.
