Hello everyone! I did it again and left it too long!!
It’s week 8 and now only 5 weeks of phase 1 lessons until EASA exams! 2 weeks ago we had our test 1 progress tests. The subjects were, Principles of Flight, Instruments, Meteorology, Human Performance and Airframes Systems.
I was extremely nervous about the exams as we hadn’t had any indication of our progress up to this point!
After putting lots of study in, all the hard work paid off, I was over the moon with a 92% average!
The results were a huge confidence boost, although now trying to not become complacent and keep up the motivation is tough!
Recently there was an open day and me and Julian went into the Seneca Simulator! It’s amazing to get hands on, reminded us what were working towards! Its surprisingly difficult to fly the aircraft and manage Throttles, Mixture, and RPM simultaneously, but I’m sure with practice it becomes second nature.
The course is still very full on and I’m extremely anxious for the pending exams! My first exams (School Finals) are on the 22nd of July, they are progress tests hosted by the academy to check our understanding and to give us a taste of the real exams!
The EASA exams (Final Real Exams) start on the 4th August lasting a total of 4 days. Fortunately we get a week of private study between our School Finals and EASA’s to correct any weak points in our understanding.
Currently I’m trying to keep on top of the new stuff still being piled on, and revise that already covered. Its a little disheartening as when revising some topics i believed i understood really well, i actually have lots of important snippets of information missing!
Besides all of that, fortunately now that we have covered all the basics, were onto much more relevant topics like Flight Control Systems, Gas Turbine Engines, Commercial Jet Electric Systems and Aircraft Safety Equipment.
Im finding it much more interesting as some aspects i have been able to link to my time dispatching, and i now finally understand how and why some of these systems work.
Only 14 more days of lessons in phase 1 until we start private study so ill keep you up to date!
Definitely looking forward too my two weeks off in August! Think i can guarantee ill be avoiding anything educational!
