A rare new unworn style made at #caerleemills #innerleithentherealhomeofballantyne was originally made under style name of Zetland (diamonds/rakers) likely to be same gents shape of the famous #ballantyne #lorne with backs, sleeves and trims made on 15gauge frame and #intarsia front on a 7n OO dubied intarsia hand machine, when buying a garment look at the tension/density and for the handcrafted finish, not all garments are #madeinscotland as some claim via the supposed heritage but likely to be sold and made in a European country or the Far East ! The knitters of #innerleithen are #mastersofthecraft of #intarsia and #fullyfashioned #handflat (at Innerleithen)

Rollneck of the day: it’s gotten cold so these are my uniform, each and every one made by Caerlee Mills from the 1950s up to 2012 when it went out of business. All Scottish cashmere is not equal and these were perhaps the best ever. #todaystie: a cashmere Ballantyne knitted tie made in Scotland for the first day that feels like fall. I don’t care if it looks like Michael Foot’s old sock, it’s a piece of the old Scottish knitters that no longer exists (you don’t want to hear my rant about the company that bears its name now). Ballantyne used to sell silk ties made in Italy with the tag “Designed by Stefano Ricci for Ballantyne”. I daresay they were far more tasteful than Ricci’s own garish ties but not really my cup of tea.
