in a book full of jokes and snark about all of DC, pretty much, this is a classic.
Dave Gibbons perfectly captures the look of an earlier era, although the events he depicts are a little less wholesome than the books of that period, as Bat-Mite and Mr. Mxyzptlk cause even more chaos than usual, resulting in death and destruction for everyone they meet. As Superman’s supporting cast die out, we see this brief scene of Jimmy and Perry in Heaven, and the Daily Planet editor comes face to face with the being whose name he would exclaim with annoying regularity. And it looks like Caesar, great or otherwise, is about as sick of having his name blurted out as he could possibly be...
