none of my dumdums are still with the hierarchy but i really love @bronzeagelove‘s uniform design so i thought i’d give adapting it for other troops a go!

caestus used to be with the ground forces and stationed on a desert planet for quite a while. temperatures were okay but the sand, the sand - it’s coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere! so his unit’s day to day work jumpsuit is well sealed to prevent sand from getting in and drying up their plates. tight zip up boots, elastic cuffs, hoods, the whole spiel. they also have helmets. the fabric is very shiny and well insulated.

honoria was with the cabals. i like the theory that biotics burn up a lot of energy, and can get pretty hot, so their jumpsuits are well vented with fancy hitech fabrics. they’re also generally very light so they can move a lot without expanding extra energy lodging heavy equipment - especially since they can have their own barriers up and don’t need mass effect field generators. tight and designed to be as inconspicuous and practical as possible.

neither was usually in dangerous enough environments to require armour. most of the cabals would again have very light armour. some ground troops have camo armour - not for the enemies since scanners are a thing, but for the more aggressive local fauna. really high tech chameleon adaptive camo that also magically compensates for different types of vision.

i love bronzie’s colour coded stripes for their position within the troop! i also came up with a design for rank badges that needs a bit more work. there’s 12 standard ranks (high positions get a separate stripe) with little pins unique to each unit. each general type of troop has a “colour palette” to differentiate different positions and jobs, so the badges are a collection of every position they’ve held/unit they’ve served with. it’s unusual they’d be transferred at the same rank and spend enough time with the new troop without a promotion, but when it does happen they get extra pins, though these are rarely something to brag about. the day to day rectangular version might or might not be worn. the round gala version has the pins arranged clockwise, with the centre being for the high rank pins arranged counter clockwise.

i started these two months ago for @citadelfashionweek and then the time kind of just... magically went by, as it does

fancy outfits for the turian crew!

caestus used to be a theatre actor so he just repurposes those outfits for the very rare formal events he needs to attend. partly to do with nostalgia and partly to do with him having zero aesthetic sense. everyone else has given up on telling him how ridiculous he looks because this is my history goddammit so they just roll with it - at least anyone can be the better dressed one when going out with him? asper is a steampunk vampire old and cheap and really not into posh events whatsoever. he associates them with the pointless circus that was turian military galas (in his very anti-hierarchy opinion). his fancy outfits are just his heavily customised old uniforms, in an attempt to reclaim some of himself from that whole mess. adamus' definition of fabulous pretty much overlaps with scandalous on a venn diagram. whether it's shock or lust he'll find a way to distract you so he can innocently carry on with his shady business while you're too preoccupied with his outfit. always fake furs. vesper likes wearing traditional clothes from his home colony. they're not originally meant as formal clothing but they're so rarely seen nowadays that they're instantly fancy. his brother's stage garb is really just a heavily stylised version of these. adeo is a prostitute entertainer so his formal clothing is always business-fancy (pls take him seriously goddammit), with varying degrees of slutty depending on his goals for the event. honoria goes for a more modern-military twist to her own home country's traditional fashions. she's the only one who can run and shoot with all that drapery hanging off her.

the finished ones are: adamus fortis (blue) - saboteur engineer, former c-sec, cynical and frankly quite unhinged; don't trust him. unhealthily attached to his turrets and drones asper ros (red) - havoc soldier, jaded old birb, mum friend, secretly really rebellious, was a captain but left 'cause he hates the hierarchy and wanted to do something ~ meaningful ~ with his life (but that didn't work out and he ended up a merc) honoria rex (green) - cabal vanguard, has no time for your shit, wishes she could be a spectre, has a hard time following orders and gets people hurt, casual drug dealer on the weekend, please don’t let her touch fireworks

1st and 4th sketches are caestus tempestas (soldier) and vesper tempestas (sentinel), they are model turians and brothers who used to be really close, but postings far away from each other soured their relationship so they rarely speak anymore. i coloured them before and also did some outfits for vesper. and lil kitten 5th sketch is adeo exspiravit (ghost infiltrator), he does various innocently dodgy things on omega to support his small found family of tiny orphans (a turian, two batarians, and a human. they are smol)
