*sends hugs and apple juice for the nausea and suppositories do sound like some of the worst medicine-delivery methods ever*
*accepts hugs*
hmm i have actually never tried apple juice for nausea. but this does remind me i can make my sister able bodied minion get me a sprite
.
see, the thing about suppositories is they sort of make sense? Like, i mean if you are nauseous and can't keep anything down it would make sense to take one?
.
but then these ones have a side effect of additional nausea it's like NOOOOO that is exactly what you should not be doing.
.
i seriously hate the whoever stopped selling the pill version for this horrendous decision
Migraine abortive is not sitting so well with me at this moment
I'm now too nauseous to sleep. Thank you Cafergot for creating a problem while treating a problem and also making that insomnia thing even worse. Bravo.
My plan to get my abortives paid for by my insurance company backfired
My insurance company has this tiny form to fill out in order for my Maxalt to be covered. It says you must have tried OTC meds, NSAIDs and ergotamine medications to manage migraines before they will pay for triptans. Which I have obviously since I have had them so long. I think this would suck for someone who has not because who gets ergotamines instead of triptans, right? Anyway, not the point. Point is between errors in the form being filled out and processing and then my inability to find the form on the site to get it filled out yet again... I was getting sick of paying for my triptans, because I can't afford to and so was using way less and that wasn't working out so well.
My brilliant plan: get my doctor to prescribe Maxalt for when I get this issue fixed And Cafergot... an ergotamine I had been on in the past for reasons I cannot even remember (likely the whole side effect issue) so that I could use an abortive that Was covered in the meantime. Makes sense.
I didn't remember why I was on Cafergot only that it was a short amount of time. I didn't even remember how effective it was to be honest. Just remembered I Had been on it, this fulfilling the criteria for the form. I didn't remember for example it isn't a take one abort migraine sort of deal. No, you can take quite a few of these things a day... because you have to. And I did remember getting a strong ergotamine in the ER made me horrifically nauseous but I didn't recall that Cafergot Also makes me nauseous... especially as you keep taking it. And I do not actually have an anti-nausea medication at this time. The one I had made me very jittery. And seems like an idiotic concept to have to take an anti-nausea med because the abortive is Really enhancing the nausea issue.
It is not a bad abortive really. Aside from the nausea. I mean you have to take more of it but it seems that I can take it without having the extreme side effects I can get with triptans. That is sort of a good thing really. I'm going to have to assess its effectiveness as an actual abortive and see if I can manage the nausea... because if it doesn't cause the side effects that concern me so much with triptans maybe that is a damn good thing. I mean ignoring those side effects because I can't take NSAIDs and doctors don't like painkillers so they just pretend those side effects are not an issue seems extremely idiotic but I do it because it is the only thing I Have and I need it. But I have only used the Cafergot for two day and there might have been a really valid reason why I was only on it for a short term... perhaps the inability to consume food, perhaps simply not effective... not sure. Worth a go again I say... since it is covered under this plan.
But the nausea... uhg. I have a herbal supplement that may help. I hope.
Panadol, ponstan, cafergot
Why is it that this pain just won’t go away?
Please stop. Otherwise, this urge to stab yourself through the skull will only grow stronger.
