I had my heart set on the real thing, baby.
Song of the Mornin'
Addict by Cai.ro
Possible Connections: This song took FOREVER for me to find! I had lyrics and a voice in my head singing the lyrics (a male, deep and gravely voice...kinda Nickelback-y, but a little less grunty). The lyrics I had were slightly incoherent, but the key words that I was trying to listen for as I flipped through the songs on my iPod's "Relax" playlist were:
"...like a million? in my li-i-i-i-ife,
suddenly I see?,
suddenly I see,
suddenly I see.
Suddenly I see,
Suddenly I see,
Suddenly I see."
*I put a question mark after the words that were more incoherent
So, when you search Google with "Suddenly I see lyrics," it comes up with KT Tunstall's "Suddenly I see." Initially, I was happy that it barely took any time for me to find the song that was plaguing my mind this morning. I knew I had some song by KT Tunstall on my iPod, so I decided this had to be the one. Then, I actually listened to the song and was VERY disappointed to find that it was not the song in my mind AT ALL!
And so the next twenty-something minutes involved me listening to a few seconds of select songs from the over 100 songs in my "Relax" playlist on my iPod.
Oh joy.
It was ridiculous how I couldn't even find lyrics that matched the ones in my head on Google. I mean, sure, my mind in the morning gets the lyrics wrong many times (especially if I'm not super familiar with the song), but I typed so many in that they should have come up with something!!!
And when I finally found the song that somewhat matched the song in my head, after clicking through nearly 200 songs on my iPod, I was surprised by how distorted my memory of the song was! The main singer's voice wasn't that deep and gravelly, and the part of the lyrics that correlated with the ones in my head were actually at the very end of the song...weird. SERIAL POSITION EFFECT!
And then I found out why I couldn't find the lyrics in my head on Google.
I searched "Cai.ro Addict lyrics" and came up with...
absolutely
no
lyrics
for this song.
Sometimes the Internet lacks so much important information it is ridiculous.
So now I can't end this post with the actual lyrics from the song (because I usually steal them from some website that posts the lyrics).
Oh wait.
Cai.ro has a website!
With lyrics!
Wow. I was really far off...
Tempted to give in I reach for you Despite the headache I'll endure for one more fight My love for you is rotting me with every bite Starving the "I do," starving the "I do," starving the "I do,"
Concert Review: Cai.ro @ Tattoo
Cai.ro is not just a city in Egypt. It is a locally adored 5-piece orchestral folk group with hauntingly familiar vocals and unmistakably new sound. If you blinked, you probably missed it, but they played a free show at Tattoo on Friday. Not just any Friday, but appropriately named GOOD Friday. It was their first show since they headlined the Big Smoke Fest at the Garrison in January and since…
