Creativity at Caine’s Arcade Watch this amazing kid's creativity and gumption in building his cardboard arcade. Had me in tears.

I cried watching this. A proper testament to a child's imagination and creativity. Its also the the most beautiful thing to see him smile and proof that children can be adorably happy when someone takes the time to notice them. So simple, but it speaks volumes.

Caine's Arcade is, without a question, one of my utmost favorite videos on the web today. What could be more motivational, inspiring and incredible than seeing a child commit to a dream and (unsuspectingly) have that dream shared with the world? Until today, I might have said nothing...

So what could have possibly improved Caine's Arcade? The answer is watching this video with a student currently in the process of creating and pursuing her dreams about computer programming and game-design. And, while I could try to put into words the look of awe in her eyes and the connection that she felt... I wouldn't come close. However, lucky for me- she chose to write her own blog post about it, and allowed me to borrow a few lines:

"Caine's Arcade is one of the most inspiring videos I've ever seen. It gave me the idea to (possibly) open up a small arcade with my programs. Just possibly." (M. 10 years old)

Moments like this are what makes me sure that anything is possible when working with young learners. Just possibly...

Caine's Arcade

9-year-old Caine Monroy spent his summer vacation building an elaborate DIY cardboard arcade inside his dad’s used auto parts store, and invited people to play. The entire summer went by, and Caine had yet to have a single customer, until one day, a filmmaker named Nirvan stopped to buy a door handle. What happened next inspired this movie, posted April 9th, 2012 – five days later, the movie launched a movement.
